Indigenous Victims of Crime
Support Services

The Anish Healing Centre Yuwitaya Owashte Program (“Coming Together to Help in One’s Healing”)

will provide safe, culturally strong trauma-informed services, workshops, and ceremonies to Indigenous Victims of Crime (IVC), witnesses to a crime, their family members, and affected community members.

Victims and witnesses need to understand their legal rights and be aware of what will happen next

as their case moves forward. They must relive their traumas repeatedly during police investigations

and the subsequent trial for the criminal justice system to work. Victims and witnesses

must recount their version of events in police interviews and court testimony.

Our Indigenous Victims of Crime Liaison will do all they can to mitigate the effects

of repeating and reliving the trauma. The Liaison will act as a bridge

between crime victims or witnesses and the criminal court,

and will advise the victims or witnesses as to how the criminal justice system works.
